A digitally precise re-creation of a vintage Les PaulThe Gibson Custom Collector’s Choice #17 Louis 1959 Les Paul is based on a classic instrument that eventually found its way into the hands of Buckcherry’s Keith Nelson. The neck and top of “Louis” were digitally scanned to ensure the most accurate reproductions possible. The neck profile of the Gibson Custom 59 Les Paul Collector’s Choice #17 “Louis” exhibits the same wear as the original. This ’59 Les Paul also went through extensive hands-on analysis to ensure that every aspect is accurate, down to the smallest detail. Collector’s Choice #17 surpasses Gibson Custom’s famed Reissue program with painstaking exactness from neck profile to aged hardware to pickup analysis.
Classic Les Paul sound with a pair of Gibson humbuckersCollector’s Choice #17 sports a mixed pair of Gibson humbuckers. A BurstBucker 3 sits in the neck position and a Classic ’57 is loaded at the bridge. Gibson originally engineered their ’57 Classic humbuckers to capture the warmth, smooth playing dynamics, and overall character of their breakthrough PAFs. Burstbucker humbuckers use alnico II magnets with historically unmatched bobbin windings for spot-on vintage tone. Louis uses a BurstBucker 3 in the neck that’s slightly overwound for hotter output. You’ll love the tight low end, complex midrange, and sweet highs you’ll get out of the these pickups – it’s everything you expect when you pick up a Les Paul!
Gibson Custom Shop quality and craftsmanshipGibson’s Custom Shop took extra care with every detail of the Collector’s Choice #17 Louis 1959 Les Paul. Every Gibson Custom guitar receives an ultra-precise Plek Pro setup for optimized playability. The fretboard and nut have an incredibly accurate intonation and a “just right” feel. And little touches, like the figured maple top, aniline dye back and sides, and the accurately-aged hardware remain true to the original 1959 Les Paul Standard that Collector’s Choice #17 pays homage to.
