The first Humbucking Standards since 1960, Made in Kalamazoo.

Very clean and original 1974 Les Paul Super Rare Standard. Late 1974 Pot Dates. Obvious Grover upgrade back to original Kluson Tuners. Truss Rod Cover with flowing “Standard”. Knobs have been wide and various on these rare pre 1976 Standards and was their a timeline to knob changes? This is the cleanest one of these 1974 Standard we have through our hands. It plays and sounds sensational. Original Purple lined Gibson Case.

Some info from the net.

Gibson was heavily pushing the Les Paul Deluxe and Les Paul Custom during the Norlin Era years, but full-sized humbucker Standards started making their way out of the factory via special order in 1974.

Some of these ’74 – ’75 guitars actually say “Deluxe” on the back of the headstock, making it difficult to know whether or not the factory did the actual routing.

The Les Paul Standard did not make a return to the actual catalog until 1976, and has remained in production ever since.

1974 was the first year for the Les Paul Standard to come out with humbucking pickups since its discontinue in 1960! These early 70s Standards are very rare, as they have been available by special order only, until their regular reintroduction 2 years later in 1976.
