An outer layer of birch and an inner layer of falkata are combined with carefully selected Philippine mahogany plies and sealed together with our exclusive Air Seal System. This unique method ensures a perfectly round shell, which is a crucial factor in achieving superior tone quality and ensuring durability. Toms and floor toms feature an 8-ply construction while the bass drum utilizes 9-plies for added tone and durability.

The depth of both the 22″ and 20″ bass drums has been increased from 16″ to a deeper 17″ depth. The added inch delivers greater bottom end and density to the bass drum’s sound.

Incorporating a springless casing design, the precision-machined lug nuts offer noise-free control. Similar to those found on our Recording Custom drums, these high-tension lugs are manufactured as genuine one-piece units.

Long found on our high-end drum kits like the Maple Custom, our original YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting system is now standard equipment on the Stage Custom drums. This rod clamp system allows attachment of the drum to the tom holder without the need of a hole in the drum shell for the rod to pass through. The YESS clamp is attached to the shell at the nodal point with two bolts so as to allow the shell to vibrate freely without degrading the shell’s dynamic range and sustain. The nodal point is the location on a shell with the least amount of vibration allowing for the mount to have minimal affect to the resonance of the shell.

This round ball clamp has long been a fundamental part of Yamaha System Drums. Made of super-hard resin, the ball is held firmly in place with a steel plate and large wing bolt. While providing ease of operation, this system also delivers total freedom in setting and superior stability. The Stage Custom Advantage also utilizes the same triple tom holder as found on our high-end drums. The triple tom holder accommodates two toms as well as a cymbal holder to provide a wide variety of set up possibilities. Just as in the utilization of our YESS system, the addition of these two features deliver added quality and value to the Stage Custom Advantage.

Wood snare drums are created with our original Air Seal System using the same quality materials as found in our other drums. Wood shells are available in all six of the drum set’s matching shell colors, plus a natural wood finish (NW). The standard 14″ x 5.5″ size offers the most flexible snare drum for all kinds of musical situations.
