The absolutely unmatched body vibe comes through a unique process. Gibson dyed individual pieces of birch, then bonded them together with a very special adhesive. The proprietary adhesive is designed to maximize sustain and enhance the axe’s resonance. One thing’s for sure: you’ve definitely never seen — or heard — anything like this Gibson SG Zoot Suit work of instrument art.

The SG has a following, that’s for sure. And what’s cool about the SG Zoot Suit is that it’s got that magical SG body style (yes, with that got-to-love-it comfortable, fast, rounded-profile neck). But because of the unique body creation, the SG Zoot Suit actually benefits from a more balanced, solid feel. Tonally, the SG Zoot Suit has a brighter voice that the legendary 496R and 500T pickups are all about. These cool pickups sport clear coil forms, so you can actually see the copper wire. And interesting story on the wire here — it’s made from polysol copper… the same wire used in making pickups in the 1950s and 1960s to help contribute to the Gibson SG Zoot Suit’s very cool, very vintage, yet totally modern personality.
