Info from Moto Music…

Gibson Advanced Jumbo “ AJ Luthiers Choice” acoustic with Adirondack and Madagascar Rosewood limited edition Custom Shop manufactured in 2006.

This fantastic Advanced Jumbo was Custom built in the Bozeman Montana Custom Shop in 2006 under the supervision of master Luthier Ren Ferguson. They sourced an original 1935 prototype from a collector for Ren and his team to refer to when building re-issues of the ‘AJ’s,

With its dramatically figured Madagascar Rosewood back and sides and the sunburst finished Adirondack (Red) Spruce top, this AJ is a very open, crisp, and powerful-sounding instrument with matching impressive looks. Lots of volume and headroom, a flat pickers dream!

This is the re-creation of the original AJ from the 1930s even down to the pre-war Gibson headstock logo. Only some 300 of these originals were made between 1936 through to 1940, They became known as the “Holy Grail” of Gibson flattops. This custom Shop edition was even more limited in number.

This guitar features an Adirondack Red Spruce top, Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, very pretty figuring, ’30s-style rosewood vintage bridge, mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard, inlaid mother-of-pearl Arrows, and Gibson logo, Vintage fire stripe pickguard, and open geared Gotho tuners. It’s a beautiful replica of the original and a very rare find.

Condition

The instrument is in excellent overall condition. It only has some tiny light dings on the top and back, without paint loss, just impressions.

Some small marks here and there on the neck, but again all in keeping with its age and careful use. It’s a used but cared-for instrument. There is some Zero fret wear.

Original hardshell Gibson case and paperwork.
