How lucky were Tele players compared to Custom & Deluxe Tele’s and the Stratocaster? The Tele escaped the dreaded three bolt neck!!! Meaning there is not much difference from a late 1968 Telecaster and a 1972. This April 1972 Stands up next to the two 1968 Tele’s we have on hold. Like most old Tele’s, it’s had a few changes, pots, switch, frets, brass saddles, all can be seen in the pics. Mid ’70’s original moulded Fender case.
The original finish is still on this Tele, a huge bonus, with evidence of some old stickers being scuffed off. The original pickguard has the date stamp, neck date stamp is there which is also a win! Still early enough to have a single string tree before Fender moved to the double. Plus the staggered pole piece rear pickup. Serial number 326813 puts it right in the ball park.
Overall, this guitar is a good fun experience. Considerably less than a new Fender Master Built Tele.
