Perhaps one of the finest examples of the ’91 SG Custom 30th Anniversary that you will ever see for sale. A Fabulous collector’s piece, practically no play wear, and the 30+ year old guitar.
“In 1961, Gibson introduced a totally new solid body guitar–the SG. Unlike anything before, the SG was light, sleek, sculptured, and featured unequalled access to every fret. With a raw, full sound, the SG became an instant rock classic, and it’s been in continuous production for over 30 years.
The 30th Anniversary model is based on the Custom version, with three gold-plated Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers which duplicate the sound of the original ‘Patent Applied For’ pickups. The body and neck are select mahogany, and are finished in Gibson’s legendary ‘TV Yellow’ finish.
All plastic parts are aged by a special chemical process, and the bound peghead includes a special “30th Anniversary” inlay in genuine mother-of-pearl.” – Gibson USA from September 1, 1992
The guitar is in excellent condition, and would be in mint condition if it wasn’t for some surface checking. Checking can be seen across the majority of the headstock. This checking is very common on this model. Looks very cool and of coarse cost more on A Custom Shop Fender, Gibson Murphy and Collings, though this is natural.
