Delightful Historic Custom Shop two pickup Gibson Les Paul Custom. Looks like it has spent sweet sixteen years under the bed. We have just wiped the cloth over the guitar and have left the polishing to the new owner, that’s if they are going for the new look.
By 2003, Gibson were really starting to remember what they had built in the fifties. This guitar is evident of that, with the Historic features of the thiner aged plastics, correct size inked-on serial number, and “Bumble Bee” capacitors. The guitar has the original case candy with matching numbers. There is a smaller than pea size raised section of finish on the back which is post factory paint movement. There are some very minimal hair line indentations, which can be seen in the right light angle, possibly a shirt button edge from and excited store test driver.
The guitar is the usual 4kgs one comes to expect from a Gibson Les Paul and is considered a healthy medium. I have to say I admire the closeness of the ebony finish to the guitar offering a small glimpse of the grain and allowing the guitar to breath. Yes … it is breathtaking!
