It’s always cool when Steve drops in. Here he is demonstrating our custom 24 string guitar built by master luthier Peter Biffin in 1977 in DADGAD tuning.

Peter Biffin is one of Australia’s leading instrument makers, maintaining an international presence at the highest level for the last thirty years.
1977 build, with a fan braced cedar top, and an arched rosewood back.
12 strings as per normal for the ‘playing’ neck, which is fine with standard E tuning as well as lower alternate tunings.
The fan bracing makes it especially responsive for finger-style playing – fantastic for Leo Kottke inspired sound seekers! Smaller body & easy playing action as setup, has been very well looked after – one owner for 40 years until the last purchaser. The original owner commissioned the build and built the moulded fibreglass case.
The 12 sympathetic strings are usually tuned chromatically from A-A, leaving one note out along the way, otherwise there’d have to be 13… (e.g. A,Bb,B,C,C#,D,E,F,F#,G,G#,A) They can also be tuned modally to enhance certain resonances as required for different tunings of the other 12 strings.
