Aria MM-10 Gypsy Guitar
“In Store & on the Floor”
The MM-10 is an affordable student Gypsy guitar from Aria . Modeled after the original Selmer Maccaferri guitar produced in the 1930s, this guitar features a 12 fret neck, 640mm scale, and a 15 3/4″ body. The top is solid spruce, back and sides are laminated rosewood, and the neck is mahogany.
The MM-10 has a surprising amount of volume and a rather pleasing tone. One would think that a guitar in this price range would be too flawed for professional use but with a little setup work this instrument could easily be used for regular performing. Chords are full and rich with the sort of “snap” and “pop” you’d expect of a good Gypsy guitar. As with most short scale 12 fret guitars, this instrument is best suited for rhythm work so the leads are nice, but not as cutting as the 14 fret long scale model. Additionally, the fit finish are rather nice, looks sharp! All in all, a great starter guitar for the budding Gypsy jazzer.
